Magnolia Glen hosts an Easter event every year to celebrate spring, and connect residents with their families. We have programmed this event with these goals in mind. Our main clientele are the residents of Magnolia Glen and their grandchildren. Therefore, there will be activities that can be enjoyed by a wide age-range. Our photo booth will allow the residents to capture a live memory of a fun time spent with their loved ones, and take it home with them. The rush of the Easter Egg hunt will bring out the spirit in all of our participants as they engage their cognitive and physical domains. Special prize eggs will help keep the seniors involved while the young ones scour the ground for their candy prize. At the end of it all, participants will be able to see and experience the cuteness of real live bunnies. These activities will leave all who attend feeling fulfilled.
Our goal for the Easter Egg Hunt is for residents and their families to create memories and have fun! We hope to create a space where families and residents are engaged in activities together. As the planners of this program, our goal is to demonstrate and apply the program planning practices that we have learned in PRT 358.
People
We will bring families closer and have them participate as a team by encouraging them to interact and build relationships with their fellow residents and families.
Objectives
We will meet and follow our objectives.
Staff
We will bring in volunteers to assist with face painting and as additional help for our group and the staff at Magnolia Glen.
Activities
We will be sure to make all activities in our program engaging, safe, and inclusive to everyone.
We will have a photo booth.
Budget
We will abide by the budget that Magnolia Glen has provided for us and ensure that we do not go over that budget.
Equipment/Supplies
We will provide the needed equipment that is safe and in good condition. We will rent/buy equipment.
Scheduling
We will create and utilize a run sheet to provide direction for all aspects, before, during and after the program.
Safety
We will have volunteers spread out along the egg hunt. This will ensure no one wonders off, or if someone needs assistance, there will be a volunteer near to help.
Evaluation
We will evaluate our participants through visible observations throughout the program.
Cognitive
Participants will heighten their cognitive ability by having to look in various places for hidden eggs and the GOLDEN Egg.
Participants will exemplify higher order thinking skills while playing giant games, such as checkers and chess, against their opponents.
Emotional
Participants will achieve emotional enlightenment (i.e. smiling, laughing, bright faces) as they participate in fun and simple activities with their loved ones.
Participants will bring home photographic keepsakes from the program so they are able to reminisce on the fun day they had.
Relational
Participants will be able to connect with families/loved ones.
Participant will be able to form bonds with other residents in a slightly competitive manner.
3. Other Adult Relationships- This is relevant to the Egg Hunt Program because we are bringing together families from all different backgrounds to socialize and connect with one another in a warm, positive environment. It allows for the residents at Magnolia Glen to meet with families to learn more about each other and grow closer as a community.
7. Community Values Seniors- The Egg Hunt will show the senior adults that people value and care for their well-being and want to spend time with them for Easter. We are holding the event to allow the residents to see their families and get a chance to socialize and connect with other residents that live here.
24. Bonding with Magnolia Glen- This event will allow all the people at Magnolia Glen to come together and fellowship. It allows the community to grow closer and truly see who they live with in the community. It will be a time to celebrate family and a chance to meet other families that are at the Easter Egg Hunt.
26. Caring- This is a family based program that allows the seniors at Magnolia Glen to show that they care for others and their loved ones. There will be time during the program where people can get together and tell others how much they mean to one another. Of course we want to have fun at the event, but the main focus is to bring families to Magnolia Glen to show the residents truly how much people adore and love them.
For Magnolia Glen's annual Easter Egg Hunt we decided to advertise using flyers. We planned to use a colorful and informative graphic (seen below) that would catch the residents attention and entise them to attend our event. We plan to display our flyers on various event boards located throughout the facility as well as leave a phone message for all residents who may not notice the flyer. We will also place flyers on the coffee tables and game tables in the front lounge and game room in hopes that residents will see it everywhere they go. Overall the emails and flyer campaign will create reminders for our clientele, in turn allowing for a larger number of attendees.
