Solutions for Common Metacycle Issues

Seat is Uncomfortable

• Replace it! See the replacement parts list.

• This video shows the steps to install a Corbin seat. Tapia seats are similar.

Speedometer is Wrong

• The factory sets the circumference of the tire as 1915 mm, but that's inaccurate. Using 1675 works much better.

• The circumference can be easily changed through the display unit.

• It was posted that the circumference can be set through programming the controller, but instructions haven't yet been found and settings aren't listed in the serial protocol.

Drive and Reverse Work; Horn, Turn Signals, Light Do Not

The controller hasn't fully started correctly. The system may have been started while charging.

• Disconnect the charger from the bike and the wall.

• Turn off the Metacycle and arm the alarm.

• Wait one minute for systems to power down.

• Connect the charger to the bike.

• Connect the charger to your outlet.

• Wait a minute. You might hear a click.

• Disconnect the charger from the wall and wait for a click and the LED to turn off.

• Disconnect the charger from the Metacycle.

• Disarm the alarm and start the Metacycle normally.

Is This Road-Legal?

• The manufacturer and the paperwork says yes. The DOT allows it. An engineer says no.

Remotes Don't Work / Bike Won't Turn On / Bike Won't Move

• Ensure the engine kill switch is set to "On".

• Wait a while. If the controller or motor is too hot, everything shuts down as a safety measure.

• Use the activation dongle or connect a charger to ensure the battery is connected internally - see the steps above.

• Try changing the batteries in the remotes first and ensuring the LEDs on the remotes are blinking, indicating they are transmitting.

• Check if the 5 A fuse is burned out. More information on the battery page.

• If it still doesn't chirp when buttons are pressed, try shorting the orange and red wires under the seat. If the bike turns on, you can replace the alarm or remove it.

Cables Rub on Rear Tire

• Due to the tight clearance and questionable design, the orange power wire or the brake light wires can rub on the rear tire. Use zip ties to secure the cables to the swing arm.

Lost Key Fobs

• Open the bike and replace the alarm module. It is under the seat. When you buy a new one, it will come with two key fobs.

• Alternately, there are devices that can clone an existing key fob's signals. You probably won't be able to have it unlock using the proximity sensor, but the unlock and lock button signals could be copied.

• Lastly, you can remove the alarm and use a key instead.

Unable to Save Sport Mode Current, Busbar Amps, Brand, or Other Settings

• Follow this video to write various settings and flash two different versions of firmware. This has been confirmed to work on a Metacycle controller.
