It is important as technology educators that we not only perform proper digital citizenship ourselves but, that we also advocate for our students to do the same. In order to do this we must first understand what digital citizenship is, why it is important, and what the repercussions are for both following and not following the manners of proper digital citizenship. we must encourage to use of technology in order to increase connectedness among communities. This also means that we must demonstrate and encourage respectful online behavior. Another component of being an advocate for digital citizenship is making sure that the importance of critical examination of all online sources is understood. Students need to also feel safe online. They should understand what information is viewable by others and what online privacy looks like.
The creation of my digital citizenship slideshow showcased my efforts to become an effective digital citizienship advocate. I chose the topic of news and Media to discuss becuase as we move towards a more digitally dependent worls I feel that it is importnant for stduents to undertsand the importnace of their online citizenship. I mad an effort to demonstrate in this presentation the need for careefukl evakluation of onlien information and theb importnace behind this. I also gaev many examples a to what proper and improper digital citizenship amy look like. I found t nuseful to include potnetial consequences for not having adequate digital citizenship so thta this issue seemed to be of importnace to my viewer and i could grab their attention to the topic. My goal was ot intruige my viewer byt hsi topic and its rleevance in their own lives so that the could grow and become better online citizens which is work thta I think is clsoe to the definition of an advocate.
