Data driven decision makers understand the importance of research in education. We understand and appreciate what qualitative and quantitative data can do to improve our educational strategies. Using data to inform decisions as educcators ensures that we are providing studnets with the best opportunities in the classroom. It is equally impotant that we support educators to collect data, interpret data and also to help students and teachers use this data to grow.
This digital literacy assessment is an example of where I acted as a data-driven decision-maker during this course. This quiz was created using google forms and was used to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. Quantitative data can be taken from the quiz as I asked recall questions from my digital literacy presentation. Through evaluation, I was able to determine which of my peers understood the messaging in my presentation and what percentage of my peers understood the key points of my presentation. I was also able to analyze qualitative data from this assessment. Qualitative data in this assessment came in survey form where my peers that took this assessment had the option to leave any comments, questions, or suggestions they had. Not only did the evaluation of this information help me to grow professionally but it encouraged me to act in the manner of a data-driven decision-maker as to how I would adjust this assessment or presentation in the future.
