The 2024 Season was a difficult one for most Connecticut Sugar Makers. The winter was dry and well above average in temperatures. Due to a new job opportunity, I did not make syrup. However, I did tap my trees and send the sap to another producer. I also replaced all my lines, tees, drops, and spouts. Totals for the season:
The season lasted approximately 30 days, starting for some as early as the first week of January. I tapped out the first week in February, and the taps were pulled in early March.
110 taps - all on 3/16" tubing with 5/16" drops and clear season spouts
2170 gallons were collected
35.5 gallons of syrup were produced.Â
