For this project, I conducted a usability test conducting my personal research into hotel booking websites using two different websites to understand the user's journey throughout the product.
Primary Objective
Gain a deeper understanding of the context in which people use websites and apps when booking flights, hotel stays, or rental cars
Learn about the goals and behaviors of customers in these scenarios, including what they are trying to accomplish, who they are with, where they are, and what devices they are using
Improve my skills and gain experience in conducting usability testing and depth interviews
Learn how to conduct effective and insightful usability tests, and how to ask the right questions and draw meaningful insights from user interviews
Use the project materials to build my portfolio, documenting and photographing my work throughout the project to showcase my skills and experience to potential employers or clients in the future.
Tasks
1. Define your research objectives - what are you trying to learn from the usability tests?
2. Use our sample recruitment screener to find users from among your family, friends, and colleagues. Please note: participating users should be over 18.
3. Use our sample depth interview and usability test scripts.
4. Prepare the test environment for desktop or mobile
5. Conduct and record the session to showcase the test in your portfolio, and to be able to review the research findings.
6. Make sure to get consent from each user to use the footage in your portfolio.
I ran the usability session twice with two different people exploring the hotel case studies. I adjusted the questions in the transcript to the user's prompt and noted down any things the user said.
