Primary Objectives
The primary objectives of this project are to:
• Gain a deeper understanding of the objectives and aspirations of users of websites and apps relevant to the chosen case study. This will involve identifying what they intend to achieve, any hindrances they face, and any additional features they would prefer to see.
• Acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to develop an effective online survey, thereby enhancing my ability to design research studies.
• Utilize the insights and materials from the project to create an impressive portfolio showcasing my expertise in designing user surveys and interpreting survey data.
Research Objectives
The research objective of the survey is to understand what motivates people to use online hotel booking systems. The target audience for the survey is anyone who has had a hotel stay before. The survey was distributed on Facebook and Linkedin in a one month period.
The online survey is a template from the UX Design Institute. I used Google Forms to compile research on how people view hotel booking systems in reaching their goals to have a hotel for a holiday. It is a survey that questions are expanded on from the sample questionnaire brief.
Questions:
When was the last time you visited a hotel website or app?
Within the last 4 weeks
More than 4 weeks ago
Why did you visit the hotel website or app that day? What were you trying to do? E.g., check prices, book a hotel room, upgrade room, etc…
(Long Answered Text)
Were you able to complete your task that day?
Yes
No
If not, tell us why not?
(Long Answered Text)
What would you change about that website or app? What improvements would you make?
(Long Answered Text)
Results
To conclude the limited sample reached the initial 10 participant goal. From the limited sample randomly sampled the majority of participants had looked at hotel booking websites and were able to complete their initial task. But, as the questions were general the definition could’ve been open to interpretation. The PDF shows the outcome of the brief survey.
