Falling From the Rabbit Hole
2022 | Independent Project | Visual Novel
"Falling From The Rabbit Hole tells a tale of Alice’s sisters, as it follows the scenario of what if Alice never discovered the rabbit hole?
Falling From The Rabbit Hole is an Alice In Wonderland-inspired visual novel game I created on Renpy. I developed this game for the honours project in my 4th year of university.
My research involved how the use of adaptations and rewrites can be used to drive character design innovation, as well as how adapted rewritings, such as “What If?” scenarios would impact the narrative growth and designs of the supporting cast.
Main Responsibilities/ Role:
2D Artist: Involved and worked on the character design, asset creation and background art (environment, CG scenes, UI etc.)
Designer: Involved in the Narrative Design of the project. Used Notion to keep track of progress.
Engine Work: Involved in the scripting of the project - use of python scripts to customise features, integrating decision making, alternate dialogue routes and options, and visual effects.
Wrote iterations and drafts of the main story and manuscript for the visual novel. Developed a text-based prototype that utilises branching narratives for testing purposes.
