TArtifact Description: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) is an international training organization that specializes in the safe management of disruptive and assaultive behavior. as part of working with students with disabilities i completed this incredible training that helped me learned how to react when a crisis is present with a student.
Connection to the IPTS standard: This artifact was a perfect demonstration for Standard 9. understands emergency response procedures as required under the School Safety Drill Act [105 ILCS 128/1], including school safety and crisis intervention protocol, initial response 8 actions (e.g., whether to stay in or evacuate a building), and first response to medical emergencies (e.g., first aid and life-saving techniques); 9C) Learning from training like this is very important and always beneficial for students and teachers. Also, this training helped me to gain more knowledge and can be used as part of my professional development.
Description iption of what I learned: This training (CPI) has greatly aided my understanding of what is expected of me as a future teacher. It also gave me new techniques to implement during a crisis in my classroom. In addition, it helped me to grasp a better understanding to advance my teachings and impact students and their learning.
Artifact Description: Developing leadership skills and applying them in various learning communities is one of my priorities as a teacher. Therefore, I encouraged my students to participate in this Adult Day Care and provide their services as planning and helping seniors at this place. Participating in community-related activities gives them a sense of recognition.
Connection to the IPTS standard: This artifact was a perfect demonstration for Standard 9. is cognizant of his or her emerging and developed leadership skills and the applicability of those skills within a variety of learning communities; 9F) understands the roles of an advocate, the process of advocacy, and its place in combating or promoting certain school district practices affecting students; 9G). Advocating for our students is an essential job for teachers. We as teachers need to develop leadership skills and encourage students to do the same thing.
Description of what I learned: The most important thing I learned from this artifact description is that advocating, developing leadership skills, and encouraging students to participate in our community can positively impact their academic and personal lives.
