Standard 3 - Planning for Differentiated Instruction – The competent teacher plans and designs instruction based on content area knowledge, diverse student characteristics, student performance data, curriculum goals, and the community context. The teacher plans for ongoing student growth and achievement.
Artifact Description: This artifact is a clear example of this standard. A competent teacher plans according to students' needs. A schedule is critical and creates an organized classroom, a good environment, and a successful learning style. I created this schedule to meet my student's disabilities in a way that will be easier for them to understand.
Connection to the IPTS standard: This artifact was a perfect demonstration for Standard 3. understands cultural, linguistic, cognitive, physical, and social and emotional differences, and considers the needs of each student when planning instruction; 3C). considering students needs when planing is a key factor, i developed a scheduel that included visuals which made its acces easier to students.
Description of what I learned: While implementing this standard in my lesson, I learned the importance of organizing, considering students' needs when planning, and, most importantly, providing clear and accurate lessons.
Artifact 2 Description: This artifact is a good example that relates to this standard. Kahoot is a technological platform that can be used to teach lessons and collect data as part of a formative assessment. For this activity, I incorporated this platform to teach a lesson and to have better engagement between students in the classroom.
Connection to the IPTS standard: This artifact was a perfect demonstration for Standard 3. understands the appropriate role of technology, including assistive technology, to address student needs, as well as how to incorporate contemporary tools and resources to maximize student learning;.3E) providing students with helpful tools as technology can be very beneficial and provides students with extra learning support.
Description of what I learned: Exposing students to technology is very important, especially for those students with disabilities. Any technology such as communication devices, ipads, or smart boards gives them another learning perspective and opens their doors to communication.
