Artifact Description: The teacher uses these experiences to create instructional opportunities that maximize student learning. Description of what I learned:
While teaching this lesson, I learned that encouraging students to embrace their differences and abilities is very important. Learning how to interact and respect others difference's is crucial and creates a positive environment where students engage and participate more positively.
Artifact 2 Description:
Students and parents had the opportunity to participate and be part of a cultural Night at school. Parents shared information, customs, and traditions of their countries with other families. Students learned and demonstrated an understanding of respecting and appreciating others' cultures and differences.
Connection to the IPTS standard: This artifact was a perfect demonstration of standard 1A) understands the spectrum of student diversity (e.g., race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status, special education, gifted, English language learners (ELL), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity) and the assets that each student brings to learning across the curriculum;
1E) understands the impact of linguistic and cultural diversity on learning and communication;
Description of what I learned:
Something crucial I learned during the implementation of this standard was the importance of engaging with parents and learning from their differences. Respecting their beliefs, customs and traditions are as important as respecting their children. This activity helped me to communicate better with parents and have a better understanding of students' lives.
