Chamber Music in MUMS

We encourage all MUMS members to try playing chamber music! Chamber music has been given more focus in MUMS this year, giving people the chance to connect with each other through our online databases as well as events like speed dating, and providing performance opportunites to groups (such as opening MUMS evening concerts and a future Chamber Ensemble Concert). 

Chamber Music Speed Dating (not actual dating)

We hold Chamber Music "speed-dating" events 1-2 times a year (with no actual dating). Participants will rotate between different groups and play chamber music with each other, giving interested parties the chance to meet new people, experiment with different chamber ensembles, and play interesting chamber repertoire! 

Databases

Currently, there are 3 MUMS Chamber Databases: "Players", "Groups", and "Composers". "Players" includes contact information of musicians interested in joining new chamber groups or playing chamber music, giving players the chance to connect and form their own chamber ensembles. "Groups" is made up of existing chamber groups, so people can reach out to the ensembles and possibly hire them. "Composers" is a part of the bigger MUMS Composer Database, and includes composers interested in writing chamber music. Groups who would like to commission music, or play something new, can contact composers to work with them.
