About Big Band

Manchester University Big Band is MUMS' flagship, high-standard, auditioned jazz band! Big Band perform at many gigs throughout the year, both within and outside of the university, playing a diverse range of big band music, from classic swingers to 21st century repertoire and often featuring vocalists. 

Who can play in Big Band?

Big Band is an auditioned ensemble. You are able to audition if you play the trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, bass, drums, guitar, percussion, or if you sing. More information on auditions can be found here.

Rehearsals

Following a successful audition, rehearsals take place weekly on Thursday evenings from 6.15-9pm in G16 (in the Martin Harris Centre). Once seated through auditions, players must have purchased a MUMS membership to take part.
