This concert features the premiere of PHD student, Tanguy Pocquet Du Haut-Jusse’s new composition for orchestra followed by Jacob Ter Veldhuis’ Tallahatchie Concerto for Saxophone performed by concerto competition winner, Jamie Marriot. In the second half, the orchestra will play Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7

The MUMS Symphony Orchestra open this concert with Copland’s Rodeo before they are joined by pianist and concerto competition winner, Marek Bakota, who will perform Rachmaninoff’s brilliant Piano Concerto No. 4. The orchestra then take us to the world of Khachaturian and his Spartacus Suite No. 2.

Get in the festive spirit with a FREE sing-along event. Christmas carols and festive songs, in a relaxed setting. Open to everybody, Manchester University Music Society hosts this inclusive, 50-minute musical treat.
You can:
· Move about the concert hall, and go in and out. · Make noise, dance and join in the songs. · Meet the performers. · Use our quiet room. · Use our buggy parking and baby changing facilities.
We will:
· Leave the lights up throughout the event. · Have our team on hand to help and direct you. · Assist with all your access needs. (We are fully accessible.) – it’s all part of the relaxed performance atmosphere!
