UPDATE TO JAN. 30 LEADER COMM REGARDING TAX LAW & TAXSLAYER

Two of the issues discussed in the Leader Comm on Friday, January 30 have been resolved including scope for Trump Accounts and the TaxSlayer calculation error for the Qualified Business Income Deduction.

Trump Accounts - Tax-Aide volunteers will not complete and file Form 4547 for taxpayers as part of the tax return. A Trump Accounts Basic Information document has been prepared that volunteers may give to taxpayers who ask for information about setting up a Trump account.

The calculation for QBID in combination with an Additional Deduction from Sch 1-A has been corrected by TaxSlayer. It is no longer necessary to defer the preparation of these returns.

Returns for the remaining two issues still need to be deferred: (1) self-employment tips, (2) SSN cards not valid for employment for taxpayers 65 or older or with a qualifying child. We will update you on these remaining issues as soon as we have resolutions.
