Reading Book.
Date: Fall 2022
What did I do: I created before, during, and after reading questions for the students to think about the reading.
What I learned: The students are more actively participating in the reading if they have questions that they have to know or answer after the reading. Students would also actively question what they learned in the book to see if it answers the questions or not. They would reflect on if they learned anything from the book or not.
Reading Lesson each day
Date: Spring 2023
What did I do: I used a guided reading lesson guide for students to follow every day at the beginning of class time.
What I learned: The students got into the habit of doing the guided reading lesson every time they came into class. They knew what they needed to do when I asked them "Do you guys know what to do today?" This helped the students to get their minds ready for class. The students also reflected on their records and tried to set new records every day.
