Line Dances and More.

I like to spend my time every Sunday evening with my Line group called" Line Dance and More." We Line Dance and More is a group that shares a common interest in dance and movement for ages 16  and older, to stay active and healthy. We Line Dance and More is not a for-profit and/or is it a non-profit group but merely a special interest group.  We were established nine (9) years ago as an outlet for more physical activities for women and men (aged 16 and older).

We wanted to provide a positive space for both women and men to have fun and bond while engaging in physical movements.  We exist to also give participants an opportunity for self-care, self-expression, and creativity through movement and dances knowing the value that dance is a learning experience for the mind, heart, and spirit.  Because the dance lessons are taught in a group formation, we ask the participants to be committed and dedicated to themselves (as a self-care outlet), and to the group as active participants for group cohesion and progression together.  There are no children permitted at the dance classes/sessions as this time is reserved for self-care.  Line dancing can be as gentle or as energetic as you want it to be. It is reported that it helps to increase muscle tone and coordination, lowers the risk of coronary heart disease, improves cholesterol levels, strengthens bones, reduces blood pressure, and keeps dancers mentally fit. Line dancing helps to release the neurotransmitter endorphins which serve to reduce stress and cause our bodies to feel calm, happy, and optimistic.  We know that when the body feels good, the mind does, too! All the stress-related problems, that are on your mind, seem to disappear when you are actively enjoying line dancing. This in turn lightens mood and reduces the risk of depression GREAT Form memory because of the need to remember sequencing, count, and patterns! Line dancing helps to train memory power. We need to memorize the basic step sequence and keep repeating the sequence. Line dancing trains the brain to stay active, by not only memorizing the steps but by also coordinating the physical limbs to the music. (counting beat, rhythms, and tempo). Research has shown that when you stop using part of your brain it will stop these parts working efficiently.  Line dancing helps with physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Starting last year, we added the additional goal of giving back to our community by performing at local events.  So far this year, in 2023 we have performed at some family events in the Spring and Summer months.  In October 2023, we performed at the Oshkosh's Pre-New Year.  In early November 2023, we performed at the Hang family Pre-New Year in Manitowoc.  So far this December 2023, we performed at Lombardi Middle School,  and last Saturday at the Wildlife Sanctuary. Our final performance of the year 2023 will be at the Appleton Pre-New Year celebration on December 23rd.  We also go perform around events in the community as well.

We are always feel welcome if you are interested. I want to provide you with a background of We Line-Dance and More.  We gather at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2132 Decker Ave. Green Bay, WI 54302 (next to Preble High School).
