For the general concecpt of this group project, we were tasked with making a game inspired by our experiences during our Schools planned trip. Here we came across a Toboggan Run, which went down a hill. With this we decided to create a sliding game where you had to rhythmically time your clicks while going downhill. Sadly this game had a few bumps along the way, mostly due to schedualling issues and issues with a teammate who wasn't too cooperative.
The Game played fairly simple, there were 5 lanes on the slide, where you could move between using the arrow keys. Then when you were above a tile you had to press, you'd hold the space button to gain points. In addition the vehicle you'd ride would dance around, since the game was supposed to be on the more humorous side.
There were a few problems with the game and the creation process, beside the teammate who was downright horrible (and was the only one not getting a passing grade luckily) one of the other problems was that a little before completing the game, the locations of the tiles were changed. Due to that fact, they no longer matched the music, which was one of the main parts of the game. Other than that, due to us starting late and being one teammate short, we didn't really get to perfect the game the way we wanted.
One of the main things I'm credited for with the making of this game is the music, which I'm still fairly happy with. This is because the music tracks match the vehicles fairly well! You can listen to these themesĀ in the music tab.
Another thing I was in charge of, was the game design of the tiles. Which I actually remember to have been quite fun. It's too bad that in the end the music and the tile placements didn't match anymore, because there went quite a bit of time into it. Then again, I don't think the designing tactic was all that clever. In our defense though, we did not have a game dev, so the other designer was doing all the coding!
