The general concept of EcoVenture was to make a game that educated the public on the importance of sustainability, while also pointing out the misconceptions that often occur with it. One of these is that people often think recycling is the most important part of it, when in reality it's just a small part of sustainability. Our game makes teaches about sustainability through greenwashing, which may sound a little strange at first. But we teach the player through gameplay that most companies pretend like they are sustainable, when they in fact aren't.
As you can see under here, in our dungeon crawler sustainability game, the player will encounter trash monsters, who the player can kill. And after they do they have the choice to use the satisfactionpoints to buy weapons from the company, which is buying into their greenwashing. You can also make your own weapons, who may not look as sparkly, but are just as effective.
There's much more to it but if you want to read that I'll link the documentation down below!
As for my contribution to the project. While I was one of the two designers who went and worked on the general game loop. We all made group decisions on how the story beads would develop and what we wanted to show in our game. I however was not just in charge of the game loop. I was also in charge of making the maps and designing the rooms for the artists to fill! I made several sketches that we worked out and was pretty happy with the end result!
