Spring turned to Summer.
George is about to be freed / leave jack alone / jack gonna be in trouble / one of the rival gang like him but cannot do anything because of George’s protection. / Got five more years, going to be hell / George will be back come winter - can’t afford not to on his pension - will have summer in freedom and then come back / got a few outside jobs to do for the other inmates, mainly visiting relatives but nothing violent.
Just then George’s attention diverted momentarily as he looked out onto the courtyard tha the cells overlooked. Then back at Jack, aall seriousness / if you could escape, what would you do?
Go abroad, start anew / maybe buy a small guesthouse /
Money?
I’ve got the money - wasn’t going to take the risk without squirrleinf away - background to week growing - borrowed 25k / warehouse / only Jack knew about it / got too big too much …
Asks again, serious, would you escape.
Sure, there’s no way out though - describe the security

They wait, now do as I say, lay on your bed and pretend to be in pain, start groaning.
Jack does what’s asked, turns his back to face the wall and starts groaning. Barely even started when he here’s footsteps followed by a brief scuffle, turns around to see George pinning new guard to the corner of the room - that explains why he fell for the old injured prisoner routine.
“George, have you gone mad? What are you doing?”
Ignoring Jack, George put his face mere inches from the new guards face and seethed, “keep your mouth shut and I won’t hurt you. Any smart ideas and I’ll slap you around the head until your unconscious, held up his huge slab of meat. / Guard complies, gag him just to be on safe side.
Jack still on the top bunk, bewildered and in disbelief as to what is going on.
