THe Flatmate
Dan left his pristine bedroom.
Making his way to the kitchen, he navigated through Eric’s stuff, picking up a discarded cushion or three on the way, then stood before the sink.
As per, Eric had left the pots to soak.
Dan’s favourite mug was somewhere in the depths of the murky water, below the bloated cheerios and film of oil.
Taking a deep breath, he dived in and quickly retrieved it. Once clean, he put the kettle on and made his way to the fridge.
Surprise, surprise, there was no milk. Well, technically, there was the tiniest amount, enough to turn his coffee dark brown.
Closing the fridge, he checked the to do list and sure enough, it was full of things Eric needed to do around the flat, including get more milk.
There was one item on the list for Dan, but that would have to wait. Today, he was looking forward to playing, and completing The Legend of Zelda. With thoughts of childhood, he returned to his sanctuary, blew in the cartridge, then escaped into the past.
Five hours later, he had almost completed the game when the power went out.
“Eriiiiiiiiiiiic!”
Storming into the living room, Eric was nowhere to be seen. Same for his bedroom, same for the kitchen.
Dan was about to call Eric and give him a piece of his mind when his eye fell on the to do list.
There was one item on the list for Dan: top up the electricity!
