“Dr Rogers! Dr Rogers! What can you tell us about the discovery?”
Dr Rogers turned his weary face towards the reporters. Once the flashing had stopped, he began.
“I was leading our Scout group up a stream, way ahead of the rest, making sure the coast was clear. Excuse me.”
Dr Rogers paused to clear his throat.
“I came to a bend and took a shortcut rather than following the stream. One step into the foliage and the next thing I know I’m sliding into the abyss.”
He paused again, this time for dramatic effect.
“I eventually came to a stop in a pitch black cavern, but luckily, I still had my torch. After walking for ten minutes around edge I found a small opening into a huge block of granite.”
Dr Rogers looked each reporter and saw he had their full attention.
“I crawled in and found hundreds of pods, each with a human skeleton inside and a name inscribed at the bottom. All were closed except for two, two empty pods.”
“What were their names?”
“I didn’t know then,” Dr Rogers chuckled. “The writing looked ancient, but I took photos and once out sent them to a friend in Linguistics.”
“What were their names?”
“He said it was Proto Sumerian. The first name they cracked was Hawwah, meaning Source of Life. After that, it was easier to crack the second name.”
“What were their names?”
“Enkidu and Hawwah, or as they are more commonly known… Adam and Eve.”
