REFLECTION

My experience of actual teaching as a pre-service teacher has been both enlightening and transformative. Stepping into the classroom for the first time gave me a mix of excitement and nervousness. I realized that teaching requires not only knowledge of the subject matter but also the ability to manage a classroom effectively. Preparing lesson plans and delivering them to students helped me understand the importance of clear instruction and engaging activities. I learned that flexibility is essential when things don’t go as planned, and quick thinking is necessary to adjust to the students' needs. Building a connection with my students made a significant difference in how they responded to the lesson. I discovered that positive reinforcement and encouragement motivate students to participate more actively. Managing different learning styles and behaviors was challenging, but it taught me the value of patience and consistency. I also learned the importance of using various teaching strategies to make the lesson more interactive and meaningful. Feedback from my mentor teacher helped me identify areas for improvement, such as giving more detailed instructions and asking open-ended questions to stimulate critical thinking.

The experience taught me that teaching is not just about delivering knowledge but also about guiding students to discover learning on their own. I realized that classroom management and student engagement go hand in hand in creating a positive learning environment. Despite the challenges, seeing students understand the lesson and apply their learning gave me a sense of fulfillment. This experience strengthened my passion for teaching and inspired me to become a more effective educator. It made me more confident in my abilities and more aware of the areas where I need to grow. Overall, this experience confirmed my calling to become a teacher and deepened my commitment to the teaching profession.
