I am teaching storytelling with art and archetypes and here are some of my thoughts on this October evening, 2025. and I just posted this reply to Shelby Larson.
I am working on an example for the class to get them to understand what they can do for our unit on psychology, mythology, and text. They can choose just one of the three, but my example delves into all three. So my example is to use the myth of Narcissus and Echo and inquire as to how the personality disorder of narcissism is or isn't an archetype.
Your quotation: “Do not confuse the clarity of illumination with the authority of truth. The mirror can show you patterns you couldn’t see; only you can decide what they mean,” made me so excited to apply that to the image of Narcissus looking at himself in the pool of water saying I love you and Echo off to the side saying "I love you."
