11 million deaths, 255 million DALYs were attributable to dietary risk factors. For instance, high intake of sodium, low intake of while grains, low intake of fruits were the leading dietary risk factors for deaths and DALYs globally. Poor diets account for more than one in five deaths globally, and pose a greater risk to morbidity and mortality than substance abuse. (Afshin A., Sur PJ, Fay KA, et al., 2017)
Yet, healthy diets contribute to better health and prevent diet-related diseases. The availability, access to foods and beverages has the potential to influence food intake behaviours within an environment.
This concept therefore seeks to enhance access to fruits and vegetables, while limiting intake of unhealthy foods while influencing individuals towards healthier choices (Well Nourishment Concept, 2024).
Based on our analysis, we estimate the points that Lumnia Building would have received for Nourishment based on the WELL v2 Scorecard to be 8 out of 16 points.
