Each week, you will watch signers and post your answers to the assigned prompts in the Canvas quiz. These questions may be based on the assigned readings, videos, lecture materials, key phrases, and vocabulary. Additionally, you will be required to participate in production activities, where you will showcase your signing skills through video submissions. Not only will this help you practice your ASL skills, but it will also allow you to get to know your classmates and create connections within the learning community. Active participation has been proven to enhance the assimilation of ASL skills, leading to improved course grades. The teacher will provide instructions for each video participation activity, and different topics will be assigned to practice your expressive and receptive skills.
Interactive Dialogue Activities
In this course, you will engage in interactive dialogue activities throughout the semester. Each unit will require your participation in a video dialogue on Harmonize. The instructions for each activity will be provided in American Sign Language (ASL) by your instructor. It is important to actively participate in these dialogues as they will contribute to your overall grade. These activities are designed to help you develop your turn-taking and eye-contact skills. Get ready to engage in meaningful conversations and enhance your communication abilities!

By completing this assignment, you will not only demonstrate your mastery of the unit's content but also showcase your ability to effectively use language expressively and creatively.
Note: The length of each story and specific requirements will be provided separately by your teacher.
Lab Assignments(Success Center)
Scheduling Your ASL Lab Sessions at the Success Center
To successfully complete your ASL lab assignments, you are required to schedule sessions with an ASL tutor at the Success Center. These sessions can be conducted either face-to-face or via Zoom, depending on your preference and availability. It is your responsibility to arrange these appointments in advance to ensure you have adequate time to work through the assignments with your tutor. Remember, these lab sessions are crucial for developing your ASL skills and meeting the course requirements, so be proactive in scheduling and attending them regularly. Whether you choose in-person or online sessions, make sure to come prepared with any questions or specific areas you'd like to focus on during your time with the tutor.
Units 7 - 11 Comprehension Assessment
In this comprehension assessment, you will have the opportunity to showcase your knowledge and understanding of the material covered in Units 7 through 11 of your online class. This assessment will encompass information from quizzes, lectures, vocabulary videos, examples of key phrases, as well as your receptive skills.
To complete this assessment, you will need to demonstrate how well you comprehend the videos and your ability to answer questions correctly. By carefully reviewing the content presented in the units, you can ensure that you are prepared to showcase your understanding in this assessment.

By learning about ASL structure and exploring the experiences of deaf individuals, you will gain a deeper understanding of Deaf culture and enhance your linguistic knowledge.
Self-Assessment
In ASL course, there is a self-assessment for each unit. It is designed for your benefit, allowing you to gauge whether you are meeting the expectations for each unit and related ASL skills.
