In English, pronouns like "you", "he", "she", "they" are used in sentences. In ASL pronouns are made with a single or several movements of the "index" handÂ
In English, possessives like "your", "his", "her", "their" are used in sentences. In ASL possessives are made with a single movement of the "open B" hand followed by a noun.
The "open B" hand is the orientation toward the person who "owns" the person, place, or thing being discussed. The "index" hand is pointing toward the person, place, or thing. Unlike pronouns and possessives in English because ASL possessive does not reflect gender. Instead, they indicated the location of the "owner" and "location of person, place, or things".
