When you pull someone over, position your front right headlight with that back left headlight of the vehicle you're pulling over. STAY AT A SAFE DISTANCE & DO NOT BLOCK LANES OF TRAFFIC.
Approach the Detained Vehicle from the passenger side if possible. State your name in a professional manner, (Hello, my name is Officer John Doe, Los Santos Police department). Inform the suspect of their infraction and obtain their Drivers License. (If they do not have it, ask for their Name, and call a supervisor if available).
Walk back to your vehicle, and open your MDT. Look up the suspects name and write a citation accordingly, (or issue a verbal warning)
Officers shall use their discretion on issuing Citations or Warnings.
Issue the citation or warning, and then inform the suspect they are free to leave once you get back in your vehicle.
Felony Traffic Stop (Code 5 Stop)
A felony Stop will be conducted if it is believed the suspect is dangerous or has recently committed a violent Felony.
Once you have the vehicle pulled over, place your vehicle behind the suspect’s vehicle at an angle, to provide cover for yourself. Stand behind your door with your service weapon drawn and aimed at the Suspect. Call for backup, and wait for backup to arrive before proceeding.
Order the suspect out of the Vehicle, and order him to continue facing away from you. Ask him to walk back towards you slowly. And then move in to cuff him, while the other officer clears the car, and provides cover.
