The LSPD K9 Division will consist of 4 Parts of training, explained below. The selection Process will be rigeress difficult and not everyone will be cut out for the job. But the Los Santos Police K9 Division will only accept the best, and most professional officers into their ranks.
A K-9 is a very useful and powerful tool, not to be abused by officers, therefore being able to include one into your patrol experience will be limited.
You must be of the rank of Officer 2 or above
You must not have any open Internal Affairs investigations
You must be marked Active on the roster (Not Part time or inactive)
Exceptions can be made for Part time officers with an official reason
You must not have had any recent Strikes or Write ups.
You must be willing to dedicate time, effort and professionalism to the Subdivision.
You must understand that failing to adhere to all subdivision and department policies will cause a permanent termination from the subdivision.
The Classroom Training will consist of all applicants that are interested in being invited to the MRPD 3rd story Classroom where the Policies and Requirements will be gone over.
Material will be gone over on Case law, requirements of joining and what to expect in the upcoming Selection Process.
You are expected to be paying attention, and memorize the stuff taught in the classroom training, for your next part of training.
Any and all officers, regardless of rank or minimum requirements are invited to classroom training! (However, you will not be selected if you do not meet the minimum requirements.)
The Selection process will proceed with a randomized verbal test on K9 Procedure, Case law and other related things to the Subdivision. Your answers will be timed and random to prevent using sources such as google or other ways to gain the answers. You should know the Case laws and Procedures front to back and be able to recite any of it whenever asked. Passing this Stage will Officially put you on the roster as a K9 Trainee Officer.
At this stage you have passed your Selection test, Congratulations that was the hard part! At this point you will be riding with a Senior K9 officer similar to your time as a Cadet in the LSPD. You will respond to service calls, perform community engagement and perform Traffic stops.
Once your Assigned Senior K9 officer has marked you off as ready, you will obtain an interview day and time with the Lead K9 officer. This is your final step. You will once again be quized on procedure, but this time while on patrol with the lead K9 officer. You will preform a traffic stop, respond to calls for service and other random patrol things, while being evaluated. You are expected to make any and all calls on your own without the help of the Lead K9 officer. Once this concludes, you will then become an official K9 Officer, and have a K9 assigned to you from the Kennel.
