SchoolPulse is an amazing mental health initiative designed to support and uplift our students every single week. Through weekly emails filled with positive, encouraging messages, this program aims to boost students’ well-being and create a more supportive school environment. It’s all about spreading kindness, resilience, and hope directly to our students’ inboxes.
School counselors play a vital role in fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment through a comprehensive approach that encompasses three primary domains: academic, career/college, and social/emotional development. We are dedicated to promoting equitable practices and culturally sustaining methods to ensure that all students receive the support they need to thrive.
Our practice is rooted in trauma-sensitive and restorative approaches, recognizing the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our students. Counselors implement interventions across all three tiers of support:
Tier 1: Classroom lessons that provide universal strategies to enhance the academic and social-emotional well-being of all students.
Tier 2: Small group lessons that target specific needs, fostering collaboration and peer support.
Tier 3: Individual counseling and referral processes designed to address the unique challenges faced by students.
Collaboration is at the heart of our work. School counselors engage with teachers, administrators, students, parents, and community members to effectively serve the needs of every student. Our practices are guided by the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) model, which emphasizes the importance of defining, managing, delivering, and assessing our programs to ensure continuous improvement and effectiveness in meeting student needs. Through this holistic approach, school counselors strive to create an environment where every student can succeed academically, explore career opportunities, and develop essential social-emotional skills.
