Gary Iska is an author with a juvenile irreverence. He writes very short stories which are sometimes illustrated by Mac N. Cheese, who is an illustrator with the technical artistic skill of a 3-year-old. Somehow, Mac's illustrations fit perfectly with Iska's stories. Ishka's first series of books consist of twisted short stories about the selfish, greedy, and misguided. It's the My (First, Second) Book of Stupid Little Fables series. Our Books by Gary Ishka are available in e-book and paperback, in English & Spanish.

Here is an excerpt of a story from that series:
Phil’s Big Fish
Phil’s mom sent him off to school each day with two sandwiches. His mom always made the sandwiches with old bread that was leftover at her job. The bread was always hard as a rock. Instead of eating the sandwiches, Phil liked to throw the bread like a skipping stone, across a pond that he passed by every day on the way to school.
One day, while Phil was skipping a slice of bread across the pond, a big fish took a bite out of it. Phil threw another slice across the water. The big fish took a bite out of that piece too!
Phil made sure to skip his slices of bread across the pond every day. Every day, the big fish ate the bread. Soon other children on their way to school noticed Phil skipping the bread across the pond and the big fish that would chase after the bread. After several weeks passed, Phil became a celebrity at his school. Everybody was talking about the big fish that chased after Phil’s bread.
In time Phil began to try and make the bread skipping more interesting. He began skipping it closer and closer to where he was standing. The big fish came closer and closer to where Phil was standing. The closer it came, the bigger it seemed.
The big fish seemed to like Phil more and more. Soon, the big fish began to come and take the slices of bread right out of Phil’s hand! All of the children from Phil’s school came out to watch this daily event and were always amazed at how much the Big Fish liked Phil. Phil liked the big fish too and thought of it as his pet.
One day, Phil was holding a slice of bread in his hand and the big fish bit his hand off! Now all the children at school call him “stumpy” and he stays away from water.
