Synopsis: Ami Cannon has played live in many different venues in the Southwestern United States. A multi-genre songwriter, many of her songs have a spiritual feel lyrically. She has an insight into people and The Creator and her music is evidence of that.

Music has been Ami Cannon’s life calling since she first stood up in her baby crib and crooned “Cruising Down the Ribber,” as the story goes. Music has remained Ami Cannon’s first love throughout her life. She refined her craft with classical and musical theatre training, as well as vocal coaching by highly respected professionals such as Olga Sacerdote and David Craig in Hollywood.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and raised in Los Angeles, California Ami began her early career as a featured singer at Los Angeles USO shows and as a member of a Hollywood Troupe which performed at military bases and prisons throughout California. She was a featured performer and ensemble winner at the American College Theater Festival for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The consummate working musician and singer, Ami has performed in restaurants, cafés, Country Western bars, dinner theaters, and resorts. Ami has been a street musician in Nashville, Tennessee, and has sung for audiences in Manhattan, New York, Las Vegas, Nevada, and many locations in and around Tucson, Arizona. Ami has performed internationally in Paris, France as well as in the UK and Guatemala. Over the years, she has also generously shared her time and talent for social causes, vigils, and as a church soloist.

Ami Cannon loves to sing, but a major musical thread throughout her long singing career has been her prolific songwriting. Her first original song, “Childhood Place,” was penned in West Hollywood in 1967 and more than 100 original compositions have followed.

Ami’s song topics are wide and varied. She has a pair of spiritual Pop songs "You Know Me" and the follow-up "How Can I Bless You?" and the iconic senior anthem "Old Guy". She has written songs about popular icons, “Florence Nightingale;” Reincarnation, the Pop “Once I Knew You;” Healing in the Wake of 911, Folk-Rock-Pop “Rocking Manhattan;” She has songs in the Adult Contemporary genre like “Special One Of The Heart", “Definitely No Bore”, and "I Don't Take It Personally". She writes and records story songs, Like the Country & Western “Don’t Cross My Line;” nostalgic romantic songs, “Finders Seekers;” sad songs, Country-Western “I’m Blue;” and Pop-Children’s Songs, “Baba Ba Bu.” Ami even records multi-lingual songs “Peace, La Paz”(English-Spanish); The French language song “Ecoute”, and the soon-to-be published “La Víspera del Adiós.” The varied subject matter of her songs provides an engaging journey for her listeners. The variety of musical genres she writes in makes her music accessible to a larger population.

Ami is a deeply spiritual person. Her deep spiritual center is reflected in “Song of Christa.” This inspirational song can be experienced on YouTube accompanied by a beautiful slide show of expressive visionary art by Mary Owens. Another faith-based song, “How Could I Not Believe?” was written to accompany author Gloria Vanacore’s book with the same title.

Dearest to Ami’s own heart, however, is her early, very heartwarming, holiday song, “Daddy’s Coming Home For Christmas,” co-written with her long-time friend, Mary Owens. These two women, as young mothers during the Vietnam War years, composed this timeless song, ignited by a true-life story. It embraces the universal themes of home, family, and fathers during the holiday season.

Ami currently makes her home in Tucson, Arizona where she sang for many years with “GEORGE AND AMI, ECLECTIC DUO” and “TAG TRIO.” She was a solo artist at Canyon Ranch Resort for nearly three years. She has performed at many local venues: restaurants, store events, parties, weddings, and memorial services.

At this time Ami is focused on continuing to record her original music. Ami is currently working with Duncan Stitt at his Recording Studio in Tucson. Ami worked with Oscar Fuentes who engineered some of her earlier Loveforce International recordings. He sometimes added his vocal talent to the richness of Ami’s original songs as in “Peace / La Paz” and pure Spanish version, “La Paz,” both of which were recently released worldwide along with many of the recordings listed here.

Ami loves her audiences and also expresses her heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to her family and friends for their constant support, along with special thanks to Mark, Danielle, George, Gerry, Mary Owens, and Barry Markson.

Ami is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and of The Affiliated Independent Recording Creators Organization (AIRCO). She is also a BMI songwriter and publisher.
