One of my assignments for LIS 650 included doing a Managerial Interview with my practicum advisor Susan Lyons. I enjoyed interviewing Susan in getting to know her story of what inspired her to become a children's librarian. I asked her specific questions of what North County Regional Library has planned for the rest of 2023. I told her I enjoyed working with the library staff and getting to know the patrons who had families.
For my LIS 664 course, I did a final youth program draft of how I would communicate my Harry Potter program to my patrons. I should have been more wiser with the planning, but my activity could inspire teens in the love of science. This program was going to take place at Boston Public Library during October. This draft would help me inform my library staff and patrons of what the next event will be.
For my LIS 698 practicum, I created a Weekly Journal and kept track of my daily activities based on my duties. Each week I would write in my practicum journal and discussed what I have learned during that week. I was so inspired in doing my field experience at North County Regional Library, I even wrote about my time in my five-year journal. It was sad when my practicum experience was cut short due to unexpected circumstances.
After spending two years at UNC Greensboro Library and Information Science program, I am finally blessed I completed my MLIS program of study. What helped me grow in the program is me creating a five year career plan for myself of what I want to establish. I have told and created stories of how I want to work with children in a library setting, especially those with disabilities. I have also learned how to create Autism-Friendly environments in libraries.
