In my LIS 635 Introduction to Technology Course, we learned about the importance of Technology Policies. Our assignment was to choose a Technology Policy from any library and write a paper about how these strategies will help benefit patrons. I wrote about the District of Columbia Public Library Internet and Wireless policies to help inform myself and patrons how children and teens benefit using wireless equipment in libraries. I learned that teenagers between the ages of 13-19 are responsible for their own access resources of the internet along with their parents and caregives.
In my LIS 670 Education For School Libraries course, I wrote a paper called "Be Your Best, Achieve Your Best, Do Your Best." This paper was about advocating for students who have different disabilities and I can advocate for them to keep trying to succeed until they reach their goal. I believe in not limiting a student to dissuade him/her in following their dreams. I learned that success is the best accomplishment and believing in yourself in making a difference is a big reward.
At North County Regional Library, I came up with the idea of having a Autism-Themed story hour to prepare children and families for Autism Awareness Month in April. I feel this would help families get more involved in the Autism community to help advocate for those who have children on the spectrum. My other career option involves working in Special Education. I love being an advocate for children and adults who are autistic and want them to have bright future opportunities.
In my LIS 664 Reading, Literacy, and the Library class I created an annotated bibliography/curated collection on how librarians and schools can advocate for teen mothers. I collected 20 resources that gave information on teenage mothers wanted to keep up with their literacy skills. I created a Smore Newsletter for my project. As a librarian, I want to continue to advocate for young mothers between the ages of 15-24 to come to the library to encourage them to keep up with their education while inspiring them educate their children in literacy.

During my practicum, I learned that North County Regional Library is hosting an Autism Awareness Event for Teens and Young Adults to help them prepare to become independent. In March, I went to an Autism Conference that talked about Autism, Anxiety, and the Brain. The last day of my practicum, I am hosting an Autism Event Family Storyhour reading books such as "All My Stripes": A Story For Children With Autism by Daniella Royer and Shaina Ruldolph and "My Brother Charlie to prepare for Autism Awareness Month. I am participating in the Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship Competition in writing poems about my life with Autism.
