During my LIS 664 Reading, Literacy, and the Library Class, we had to conduct an Annotated Bibliography/Curated Collection about research in a library database. My final project was an outreach event of how libraries can attract younger mothers between the ages of 15-24 years old. Some libraries find ways to support teenage and young mothers by putting on different literacy programs and encouraging them to finish their education. I researched an article about a Chicago Library having Reading Literacy and Career program to encourage younger mothers to further their education skills for themselves and the children.

For my LIS 670 course, I wrote a personal educational biography discussing my life as a autistic student. I have written about my journey of having autism and how I became more successful and mature in obtaining my higher education. I grew over the years of learning how to become a responsible adult and understanding how I communicate with people. This year, I made a five year goal for myself between the years of 2023-2027 (30-34 Years Old) to continue my growth of where I want to be.Â
Throughout my journey at UNC Greensboro, I have enjoyed working with my other classmates on group projects and getting to know what inspired them to be librarians. In my LIS 650 Leadership and Management course, I have been working in a public library group of how to solve a blockchain issue. Our group met every other week to discuss how resolve the blockchain if we were working in a library setting. My group member have been very informed and engaging and we double check our work to make sure we are putting the correct information.
This semester in my LIS 650 Leadership and Management Class I discussed and learned about project management skills in libraries. I was assigned to a Public Library Group in which we worked on a group project in solving a blockchain issue. We took parts in organization through introduction, budget, conclusion, summary etc. Our final presentation indicates our project management plan in resolving the hacking issue in the library.

In my LIS 650 Leadership and Management class, I was in charge of putting together of fiscal budget for the blockchain. I proposed a $50,000 budget for a new blockchain security such as stronger firewalls and password protection. There was not much taught about budgeting in the LIS program, but I did get a clear idea of how to manage money. I am more engaged now of how fiscal years work.
Throughout my life and the LIS program, I learned it is always smart to have excellence emotional intelligence when it comes to learning to relate to people. This past Monday, I gave a presentation of how having emotional intelligence is a great factor when it comes to processing managerial skills. I presented it is not always good to shut someone down for your own personal game because it can be hurtful when someone is telling you a story. Having good empathy helps us increase our life and communication skills when it comes to our career.
