James Murillo
James Murillo began his dance journey at just 8 years old when his mom enrolled him at Lines Dance Academy. What started as a simple class quickly became a lifelong passion, rooted in a family of true salsa lovers. Growing up in a household where salsa and cumbia were always playing — especially through his dad’s deep passion for the music — shaped his ear, musicality, and the authentic sabor that defines his style today.
He trained in Salsa On1 as a child before fully transitioning to On2, where he developed a deeper connection to the rhythm, timing, and cultural essence of the dance. That evolution refined his musicality and strengthened his identity as a dancer.
Known for his explosive energy and commanding stage presence, James discovered early on that performing was more than movement — it was storytelling through passion. He has been part of world-renowned championship teams including Mambo Reborn and Mambo A Lo Ayala, performing and competing on international stages worldwide. As a solo competitor, he has also earned 1st Place as an Amateur Soloist, further solidifying his presence as a rising artist in the salsa world.
Through every performance and every class, he proudly carries his family’s legacy and represents what it means to be a true salsero de corazón, committed to preserving the culture and sharing the love of salsa with the next generation.
