Iñaki Villanueva-Torres

Dancer, Teacher, Musician, and Video Producer based out of Portland, Oregon.

Music and dancing were always a big part of Iñaki’s life growing up in Mexico City, CDMX. From dancing Salsa, Cumbia, and Boleros after family party dinners, and in later years, being exposed to Guitar Trios, street band performers and Mariachi bands at his Dad’s Cantina (restaurant/bar), music became his passion. He started playing various instruments at an early age, but the guitar became his favorite.

Even though Iñaki started dancing informally at a young age, being a musician helped him to create a solid foundation in dance. He has been dancing and training for 15 years. Throughout that time, he has had the opportunity to perform, compete, choreograph, teach, and travel as a hired artist at Dance congresses and Festivals. His dance styles of preference to teach and dance are Bachata Moderna and Sensual, but he also loves to dance and occasionally teach Bachata Traditional, Salsa and Merengue.

Today Iñaki is grateful for all of those who contributed to his development as a dancer and wants to keep developing his skills as a teacher and dancer. He plans to continue creating a fun and safe environment for students to help them develop their own dancing skills as his mentors did for him.
