Troja were a species of flol that lived in the southern Eranosian hemisphere, specifically in Apex Fréas and Lagasu. Adults grew to over two and half meters tall and weighed between 500 and 1,600 kilograms. Their most notable feature was their antlers, referred to in the Asymptite language as “bulias” or “wind nets.”
Though often not visible when the sun is out, the troja’s antlers had adapted to have semi-photosynthetic capabilities, absorbing energy from magnetospheric plasma during aurora events. These events are highly common during the polar nights of Apex Fréas, which in turn has become the troja’s peak mating time. When a mature male troja looks to the aurora, their antlers and fine hairs will begin to emit absorbed light particles. Males would try to maximize their glow to attract potential mates, the effect lasting for weeks.
The troja was domesticated by the Asymptites in the mid-4th Age and became the most important farm animal to the Asymptite people by the 6th Age. The troja were an important source of fur and milk (to be used for butter), but their numbers in the wild declined due to Eavon overhunting. Troja populations in the wild soon recovered thanks to conservation efforts made by Apex Fréas. On 7/3/1476 6A, the day the Solstice War began, five-hundred thousand Asymptite cavalry riding atop trojas invaded Lagasu.
