The lwupro (last thief) was a bipedal parthropod that lived in the Casdon Highlands region of Frauji. They had greenish-tan scales all over their body, a toothless keratinous beak, and stood less than half a meter tall. The six red sacks located below the neck were a late evolutionary feature which filtered and absorbed man-made toxins in the water and air before entering the animal's lungs.
The lwupro roamed the Casdon canyons in packs ranging from two to a dozen individuals. They ate flol and rodents, but also supplemented their nutrition with fungus. In particular, the lwupro favored the Hyslerian mushroom, plentiful but toxic to most other animals, the lwupro's filters absorbing the deadly spores.
Hysleria virus can be contracted in two ways; by eating the namesake mushrooms or being bitten by a lwupro. While the animal may be immune, the toxins have moved into the saliva of the affected lwupro. Hysleria virus causes wariness, memory loss, apprehension to sunlight, vomiting, and usually a comatose state that will lead to death.
