Cartonería is the Mexican tradition of Papier-mâché. It can be seen today in piñatas, toys, and alebrijes. Alebrijes are imaginary creatures that were first created by Pedro Linares (for more information see video below). The Linares family is known throughout the world for their creations using their own techniques for Papier-mâché as well as painting of their creatures.
