This section incorporates competency 11 of Quebec's Reference Framework for Professional Competencies for Teachers.
Learning is a lifelong journey that everyone takes part in. It is important for teachers to understand that they are still learning as well, even if they are far into their careers. There are always new things to discover as the world is evolving and no one knows everything about everything. The same can be said about the teaching profession: you don't know every teaching method. It is important for all educators to understand that many methods, known or unknown, exist for them to learn and use. One teaching style will not work for all students and it is important to learn different ways to help benefit them throughout their learning, even if it is something that is outside of your comfort zone. Committing to one's professional development helps keep teaching relevant to the current needs students have and the skills they are required to have in the future. Teachers actively learning how to improve create students who are motivated to learn.
