This section incorporates competencies 1 and 2 from Quebec's Reference Framework for Professional Competencies for Teachers.
Teachers should, of course, be knowledgeable in the topics they are teaching and the language they are teaching, but mastering the language of instruction and acting as a cultural facilitator includes much more than that. Ensuring diversity is present in the classroom is just as important as teaching and representing local culture in the classroom as well. Students learn better when they can relate to what is being taught. Teachers have to be able to not only understand what they are teaching but also to be able to make it relatable to their students through cultural links and by using proper language to do so.
These two competencies focus on developing one's ability to act as a cultural facilitator when carrying out duties and on developing one's mastery of the language.
