Ingredients:
Loaf of White Bread
1 Chuck Roast
2 Jars of Heinz Brown Gravy or McCormick Brown Gravy Mix
Instant Mashed Potatoes
Salt
Pepper
Directions:
1.) First you will begin by seasoning your roast using salt & pepper.
2.) Next, you will need to grab your frying pan turn on high heat, and sear on all sides until it turns lightly brown
*A tip use tongs to grasp and hold as you turn to sear.*
3.) Once you have seasoned/seared that roast you will then place it in the crock pot with beef broth and then allow it to slowly cook for the next 3 1/2 hours.
4.) Once you hit the 1 1/2 hour mark of time left, you will begin by peeling golden potatoes, dicing them in 1/4 (quarter) pieces, and placing them in your pot of boiling water.
*Tip: As you are slicing the potatoes place them in a big bowl of cold water where all the potatoes you use have enough room to be covered. once they are peeled grab the pot you will be using fill 3/4 of the way with water and as you cut the potatoes place them in there. Doing this process with the potatoes prevents them from becoming brown because during this time the potatoes are losing oxygen and beginning the process of oxidation but if they are left in water as you do this process oxidation will not occur.
5.) Once you do this whole process of the potatoes you will then have your pot and place it on the stove turn it up high and allow it to boil. To help with boiling reaction use salt.
6.) Once all potatoes are boiled through you will know once they appear to have a soft texture, drain them potatoes, place them in a serving bowl, and mix butter, salt, and pepper. Once you do this you should have nice....soft...and creamy mashed potatoes ready to serve to the family along with that delicious roast in your crock pot.
7.) Before getting out that ..... I am sure that delicious-smelling roast you will need to quickly mix your gravy. If you use Heinz gravy then put it in a bowl and microwave for at least 1 1/2 minutes. If you use packet gravy then follow the directions of adding the water or milk and place it in a bowl as well once all mixed microwave for the same amount of time.
