Prompt:
[character] never believed in miracles, but now…
Eudora never believed in miracles, but now, it seems it is her last hope of finding freedom from her curse. So, there she sits, on the seat of her windowsill in a velvet pine green dress embroidered with lilies of the valley and emeralds along the bodice. Her sleek black hair falls past her shoulders with a ginger streak folded behind her ear. She sits in silence, looking out onto the green pasture below her window pane as blossoming flowers bloom in the distance. With the wave of her hand, she blooms a beautiful iris down in the meadow. Around her is silence of anticipation as she awaits for news that could be the miracle she’s been waiting for.
“Eudora!” a boy yells down the hall of the palace. “I’ve got it! I’ve got it!”
“I’m over here!” Eudora yells in excitement.
Footsteps make their way down the hall as Emrys finds himself in her bed quarters and enters the doorway, breathing heavily while holding a beige envelope.
“Great Job Emrys!” Eudora smiles standing to meet him, “Hand it here.”
Eudora practically snatches it from Emrys’ hands and she quickly opens it to read the contents inside. Emrys watches, his hands on his hips and his head leaning over her shoulder. Her eyes move side to side taking it all in, but then she stops as her ginger streak falls in front of her face.
“Gargon,” Eudora spits.
Her smile falls as she shoves the letter into Emrys’ chest. He lets out a faint ‘ow’ as his hand reaches up to keep it from falling, looking at the letter and back to her.
“What’s wrong?” he asks.
“It’s just what we thought, he’s the only other mage user in the kingdom besides my family,” she says.
He looks at her and back at the papers, “But why are you upset, isn’t this what we wanted? Confirmation to our hypothesis?”
Eudora sits back on her windowsill seat with a strong pout on her face. “That’s just it Emrys. We know the what, but we still don’t know the why. Why is he the only other mage? If he is, what makes him and my family different?” she asks.
“He’s set on seeing destruction and your family are protectors of the kingdom. That’s the difference,” he states.
Eudora looks back to Emrys with a faint smile, her mind running rampant. “Yes I very much know those differences. But the making of my family's magic still escapes me,” she reaches her hand up to touch the emerald embedded in her chest. “All I know is this is the source of my power. But what can I do with that?” she states. “My parents are no longer here to tell me of our family’s origins. I don’t know if I’ll ever know the truth about my power, Emrys.”
Eudora stands for a moment, looking at her emerald, as old memories flood to her mind. She remembers it all clearly as if it happened yesterday. Her mother and father were teaching her how to harness her power. The Emerald family had the power to manipulate, alter, and create anything from nature. At five years old, creating was the easiest ability to teach young Eudora. So her parents focused on strengthening that skill. That day, she created her first flower, a marigold. Her mother was so proud, bringing her into a giant hug while her father patted the top of her head.
However, in a moment, it was all gone. Gargon came to face her mother and father as both of them stood in front of Eudora to protect her. Her father said something about running inside. Her mother said to make a shield. She couldn't do anything, she was so struck by fear. Tears welled in her eyes as a white light illuminated her cloud of vision. She said something, she doesn’t remember now, but she does remember when Gargon yelled the curse of Amartía towards her parents. With a flash of red, she watched her mother and father die in front of her.
The curse must have ricocheted off her parents because it too struck her. Though, instead of taking her life, it left her with a ginger streak in her hair, and of course, a fear that the curse will one day take her as well. To combat this fear, Emrys agreed to help Eudora in her investigation for a miracle to free her of her curse.
After being in her head, still looking down at her emerald, Eudora finally says, “It’s been three years since we started investigating, Emrys. We need information, leverage, but every time we find something new it’s like we’re back at square one.”
“Maybe my father knows something,” Emrys states.
“I’ve told you plenty of times, The king shouldn’t be bothered on a matter such as this,” Eudora dismisses.
Emrys takes a seat next to Eudora, his eyes focusing on hers. “And why not, you are the kingdom's protector, are you not?”
Eudora stands as Emrys attempts to grab her hand but misses by a mere inch. “You don’t understand. I can’t bother him with this. I have a reputation to uphold, a duty to fulfill. I can’t share my anxieties or my pain with him. He's much higher than me, what would make him even care?”
“Eudora,” Emrys smiles, “You’ve gotten my father’s character all wrong.”
She turns to look at him, his eyes soft and kind with glints of understanding sparkling through his irises with blonde locks flowing over his brow She relaxes and comes and sits next to him. This time Emrys grabs her hand. Heat rises to her cheeks as he strokes his thumb along the top of her hand.
“You know how it burns me to know you’re stuck in this curse,” he says, lifting his other hand to take her ginger streak from behind her ear,“I would do anything to free you from it.”
“I know,” Eudora states, “But, I know I’ll figure it out. I’ll put an end to this curse, I swear it."
“Well, as long as you swear it,” Emrys smiles. He stands, taking a moment to separate their hands. “I guess I’ll be off then. Let me know what the next plan is,” He smiles and takes his leave.
Eudora sits there, with the faint feeling of his hand in hers as a tear falls from her eye. Despite Emrys, she feels completely, and utterly alone. If only, she thinks, there were such things as miracles.
She sighs and stands to walk over to her desk. There her notebook of research sits atop a mess of papers. Eudora takes a seat at her desk and opens it up, to refresh all she’s come to discover, and all she has left to discover. She does this daily, it gives her a sense of peace to remind herself she has some control over her situation. Though it never lasts long, hence the daily routine.
As she flips through the book she finds her major discoveries, that Gargon hated her family, yet they don’t know why. She promptly picks up a feather pen to add that Gargon was the only other mage in the kingdom. As she reads she sees again that Gargon used to work under King Tobias. Emrys stated that his father held him in high regard, but that he began to crave the throne, thus having him exiled.
And of course, the curse of Amartía. There isn’t much they were able to find on this curse. Her hand glazes over the page to see the symptoms, death and/or tainted in color. And of course, powerlessness.
A memory of her mother and father come to mind, their eyes glazed over, yet their irises now the color of red, no longer of emerald. Their hair covered in ginger streaks just like Eudora, though misplaced all over their heads. Though the most feared fact was that the emeralds in their chests had a crack down the middle.
Thus probed the question, is the emerald simply just where their power originates, or also their life source?
Eudora is much too terrified to find out.
Before she has time to go over anything else, a servant approaches her bedroom doorway.
"King Tobias would like to speak with you," she says.
Eudora smiles softly, unsure what the King could possibly want. She stands, tidies her mess into a more organized mess, and makes her way to the throne room.
✧✧✧
“You summoned me, your Highness,” Eudora says as she gives a curtsy.
There, sitting in his throne room, is King Tobias draped in a purple robe with a crown of the most beautiful jewels neatly sitting atop his white locks. His eyes are a deep autumn orange, reminding Eudora of the passion that fire holds. And of course, he has his signature smile, singing of compassion and joy with a dimple on one side.
“Yes, I did Eudora,” he gleams. “I wanted to speak with you.”
“On what matter?” she asks.
“You see, Emrys told me you were feeling anxious, about Gargon and of course, your curse.”
Eudora’s face falls. She knew Emrys would do this, he always has her best interest at heart. Even if she wishes to keep things to herself, Emrys always makes a way for the King to comfort her.
“I’m sorry King Tobias. I didn’t mean to trouble you with my affairs,” she responds, keeping her head down.
She hears footsteps approach her as a thumb lifts her chin.
“My dear, you can be honest with me. After all, you are the faithful protector of my kingdom. Why would I not want to help you?” he smiles.
Eudora beams.
“Now, will you walk with me? I have something to show you.” King Tobias states.
He walks past Eudora, to which she promptly follows behind. The two of them and journey down a long hallway. With each step passed, Eurdora notices paintings aligned along the walls. Ones of King Tobias, Emrys, the Emerald family, and countless paintings depicting the beauty of nature. Each painting seemed separate, but together at the same time. Like it was a story unraveling on the walls.
As the two of them walk, their steps fall in line, making a rhythm. For a moment, it's silent only for the sound of heels clacking on the stone wall grounds, until King Tobias breaks it.
“Emrys tells me you both have been investigating the source of your curse. Is that true?” King Tobias turns slightly to see her while still leading her down a stairwell.
“Uh, yes,” she hurries to catch up. “I thought if I knew the origin of the curse I would be able to be free from it.”
“Ah yes,” he says, “Freedom indeed is a pricey bargain.”
The king turns a right and walks down another hallway. Eudora promptly follows.
“I’m quite well aware of this sir,” Eudora responds. “ I don’t know if Emrys has told you, but we’ve been searching for years."
The King chuckles. “Emrys keeps me up to date on many things, especially his time with you. He’s quite fond of you, Eudora,” the King smiles.
Eudora’s cheeks burn, “Oh, well I’m quite fond of him as well. He,” she hesitates, “he means a lot to me.”
The King stops to look at Eudora. She places her hands behind her back and stands up straight and hopes her red cheeks aren’t so noticeable.
“I’m glad you two have grown so close,” is all he says.
He turns back around and leads Eudora into a room. The room is dark except for a torch held on the wall illuminating light to a bookcase. The king walks over to the book shelf and looks back to Eudora with a finger on his lip and a quiet ‘shhh’ coming from his mouth. He takes a book, one that by comparison to the others on the shelf, seems plain and well loved. But it has a gold lettering engraved on the side saying The Way. Eudora assumes he is going to take the book out to read, but when he pulls it, an entryway leading to another staircase opens before her eyes.
“Wow,” Eudora says in amazement.
“Keep this secret,” The King states, “It is only known by the royal family, and now you,”
“Why me too?” Eudora asks.’
“You should know I’ve considered you a daughter for a long time now,” he says sweetly.
Eudora looks up to King Tobias’ eyes with joy. A smile as wide as the sea erupts from cheek to cheek, and she chooses not to hide it. The King smiles just as wide and turns to walk down the staircase with Eudora behind.
When they reach the end, Eudora looks around to see the room is full of shelves, podiums, and artifacts all containing jewels. They all shine bright, reminding her of the colors of the rainbow. King Tobias gestures for her to explore the room, so Eudora eagerly walks to each exhibit.
One is an amethyst. There, many broken rocks with a showcasing amethyst stone on the inside. Alongside them, purified jewels lay. On a plaque it reads: Amethyst, deep love.
Another holds a jewel of deep blue called the Lapis. The blue is cracked with golden shards that brings an elegance to the stone. And there are seven all sitting in a circle. The plaque reads: Lapis, strength and courage.
There to the right another catches her eyes. A gorgeous red jewel shines brightly in countless shapes and sizes. Some circular, some square, each unique. The plaque reads: Ruby, passion and protection.
She looks around the room, amazed and enthralled in the beauty of it all. Countless of other jewels lay arrayed in exhibits like sapphires, opals, quartz, and pearls. Then her eyes meet King Tobias' in joy to see him standing by a familiar jewel. His face sings of pride as she walks her way over to the exhibit. As Eudora looks at the jewel, she see’s King Tobias' eyes on her.
There, standing before Eudora, is a selection of emerald jewels shining brightly as if acknowledging her as their own. Each jewel is cut precisely and so beautifully that it brings a tear to Eudora’s eye. She looks to King Tobias. He smiles and nods to the plaque on the exhibit.
Emerald, hope and everlasting life.
A part of her heart floats. Hope and everlasting life. The emerald stands for something that the curse can never break. But in a moment, her heart sinks, because she realizes that wasn’t true for her parents.
“Why show me this?” Eudora asks. “I don’t understand. How do you have all these jewels?”
“There is something I haven’t shared with you Eudora,” he states as he walks over to another exhibit. “There is a very important reason why you are a mage and able to use the power you do. Why you, your mother, and your father were the only known mages in the kingdom,” he states as he finally makes his way over to a jewel, one that reminded her of a horrible night. “And why Gargon is the only other mage.”
“You mean you know why?” she asks, walking over to the jewel known as Garnet. The note card reads, Garnet, Blood and vitality.
“Like you, Gargon possesses a jewel embedded in his chest granting him power,” King Tobias states.
“Oh,” Eudora mumbles, wondering why she isn't as excited to discover this. She’s been seeking the answers for so long, so why now do they feel so heavy? Especially knowing that their powers aren't so different.
“It’s not by accident you, or Gargon, received your jewels,” he says.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
King Tobias stands up straight as his hand gently pushes his crown up. It's then where Eudora fully notices the jewels on his crown, each one seems to sing of something beautiful in nature. It's as if the whole world rests upon his head singing melodies of honor and praise to his ears.
“I was the one who embedded the jewels in your chest.” he starts as Eudora looks at him in shock and amazement. “I did this by cultivating a mighty power for you to be a proud and fearless protector of the kingdom of Amayis. I did this by placing my own power within you."
Then, King Tobias slowly opens up his robe which reveals his silk shirt. He slightly unbuttons the top to reveal a rainbow assortment of jewels placed on his chest like a cross. There, she sees the lapis, the amethyst, the rubies and all the other jewels shining so brightly across his chest. Though, she notices a jewel that was not displayed, one that seems original to just King Tobias. There in the center, a diamond lays shining a light onto all the other jewels, singing of an outstanding glory Eudora has never known.
“You’re a mage as well?” Eudora asks, astonished. A diamond, what could that mean?
“Indeed.” he says, closing his shirt.
"Why didn't you ever tell me?" Eudora asks, almost feeling betrayed.
"It was not the time," he says softly. "Though now I have chosen to reveal myself to you, because it is what I desire."
Eurdora thinks. If she received her power from King Tobias, a gift so free and given to her before she was old enough to understand, how could she ever thank him enough. For him to look at her and wish to give her something so precious, it makes her heart swell. But then she remembers Gargon, and it makes her feel less special.
"Do not think that by giving Gargon his powers that it lessens yours," King Tobias says, almost as if reading her mind. "Gargon was a trusted ally, but pride overcame him. He wanted more than just one jewel’s power, he wanted the throne and the power of all the jewels.”
“But that's what you have?” Eudora says.
“Yes. He didn’t understand that what he desired was not how it was supposed to be. So he became resentful, hateful. As I gave power to more of my faithful followers, he grew revengeful. He thought he could hurt the ones I love to punish me, since he knew he was no match.”
“So, he killed my parents to get back at you?” Eudora says, tears streaming down her face.
“Correct,” King Tobias choked.
“So why was I spared?” Eudora asks.
King Tobias looks at Eudora with melancholy as he starts to speak, but before he can they hear a familiar voice from the stairwell.
“Father!” Emrys cries from the top of the stairwell.
King Tobias whips around immediately to look at Emrys. Eudora does the same. When she does, she sees Emrys has a face ridden with shock and seems to be so stressed he’s sweating blood.
“It’s time, isn’t it?” King Tobias states sadly.
“Gargon is here,” Emrys explains, walking down the steps. “We must make haste.”
Eudora looks to the King and to Emrys trying to gauge as to what is going on. Gargon, here? Why are they not moving faster? Fear rumbles in her stomach. Though, it’s quieted when King Tobias looks at Eudora. His hand raises to brush her cheek and takes her ginger streak in his hand. “In a moment’s time,” he says with no explanation. He then turns to Emrys, “Take Eudora with you. I will join you soon,” King Tobias says.
Emrys takes her hand firmly and leads her up the saircase. As she follows, she turns to take one last look at King Tobias. His shoulders shake and water droplets seem to be falling to the floor. The King is crying, and she doesn't know why.
The make their way up the staircase and past the shelves that opened up a doorway.
“Eudora, he told you everything, right?” Emrys asks
“Yeah, and how you’ve been snitching on me all these years,” she jests.
He turns to Eudora with a smile so radiant she wishes she could experience it forever.
“Well, it was beneficial to the operation, was it not?” he asks.
“I suppose it was very helpful,” she starts. they run through the hallway but Eudora stops when she sees the portraits of Emrys and King Tobias. “Though, I don’t understand something.”
Emrys stops and looks at her. He doesn't seem worried or stressed, unlike how he should be with the knowlege that Gargon is near. Though, instead, he walks up to her, takes both her hands and chooses to listen.
“You knew all of this, didn’t you?” she asks.
“I did,” he responds.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
Emrys takes a moment, looking into her eyes.
“Because this is how it’s supposed to go, to free you of the curse of Amartía,” he says, his hands tightening around hers. “We can’t be meddlers with fate,” he stresses. “Now, please come with me, I promise everything will make sense in time,” he smiles.
Even though Eudora doubts. Even though she’s confused and doesn’t understand what this means for her or her parents, she chooses to have faith. Faith in a new miracle. Not one that brings clarity or information. But of the person who stands before her. The person who simply asks to believe him. It’s that miracle that moves her to follow Emrys as they go to face Gargon
✧✧✧
The field of blooming flowers Eudora saw from her window is now full of cloudy darkness and decay as her irises lay on the ground shriveled and lifeless. There, in front of Eudora and Emrys, stands Gargon, tall and domineering. He wears a black robe made of a velvet red lining. His black tunic opened to reveal his garnet embedded in his chest, though unlike the Emerald family, Gargon has black lines, almost like veins, forming from jewel and throughout his chest. Almost like he has tainted the beauty of his garnet. He stands, his eyes the color of blood, his hair a menacing black, and his cackle, horrid.
Eudora in that moment felt like she was back that night of her parents death. She doesn’t know how she didn’t remember it before, but Gargon has that same look to him now as he did when he stood over her parents. The bloodlust, the anger, the revenge, all written in the glare of his eyes. She felt powerless then. She feels powerless now.
“My, is that Eudora of the Emerald family,” Gargon sneers. “Just who I was looking for. I’ve come to finish you off,” he smiles.
“You have no right to speak to Eudora,” Emrys declares.
“Oh, I don’t? Do I? Is this going to be a repeat of last time? When your parents had the life sucked out of them,” he cackles. “You know, I wondered for years why my curse didn’t affect you. Normally it kills everyone in my way,” he states.
He takes a step closer, holding his hand up revealing his long black fingernails. His smile is unsettling, rejoicing in death.
“Do you know why you were spared?” he asks.
Eudora looks to Gargon and then Emrys who is standing with his arms in front of her as he watches Gargon closely.
Then, someone approaches behind.
“She was spared because my son saved her,” King Tobias states, standing unafraid.
“Oh really,” Gargon snickers. “How interesting. And how is that?”
Emrys stands tall and for the first time since the two have faced Gargon, he looks at Eudora, “Because she believed in me.”
“What?” Gargon laughs. “How childlike. To believe in someone.”
“What you didn’t see that night, " Emrys calls, “is that I gave the Emerald family an out.”
“But you’re only three years older than me. You were only eight? “ Eudora states.
“I was born for greatness, same as you. Being young never took that away from me,” Emrys states.
Eudora cheeks burn and her heart flutters. Her feeling of powerlessness in a moment loses all control of her mind, heart, and strength. In a swift movement, she raises vines from the ground up towering over Gargon. Though, he simply laughs as they come to tie him up. Possibly because the vines don’t reach him. Eurdora looks to Emrys holding his hand to hers to stop her and then to King Tobias, who holds his hand out as if restricting the vines.
“You must let me fight this battle, like you did when you were younger,” he states.
A memory flashes before her eyes. One she must have forgotten. Her mother and father were fighting Gargon as she stood behind them in fear. But then she remembered the white light. It was someone coming beside her. His smile was illuminating. He wore special kingdom attire and came to speak to her mother and father.
He had said he was sent by his father to help them, that if they believed in his power he could relinquish Gargon on behalf of them.
She remembered her mother and father laughing. They shooed him off, declaring they were quite able on their own, allowing their pride to take charge. The boy then ran to her. Her vision was blurry and was unable to hear much of what he said, but what she did remember was this, “Will you let me protect you?”
Without hesitation, she said yes. A red light appeared, her mother and father fell, lifeless. The light came straight for her striking her in the head, though a white light shine so brightly that the red light wasn't able to overcome her. Then the white light refracted the red and pushed Gargon to the ground. He stood and spat up blood, cursing them all and fled the scene in shame. Then, Eudora stood to see her parents gone, her head feeling like lead, and no boy to be found.
Later on is when she had met Emrys. That was when the King allowed her to stay with them in the castle for protection, and when she was practically adopted into their family. Before, she never knew why she felt so at peace with Emrys, but now, she knew. Because he was her savior back when she was a little girl.
“Will you let me protect you once again?” Emrys asks.
Eudora smiles brightly, “Yes. I believe you can.”
Emrys smiles and holds his hand up to her hair caressing her ginger streak and his hand softly falls to her jawline. Euroda breathes in for a moment, unsure of what will happen next. She looks into Emrys eyes, starlike and shining. He brings her lips to his in a moment causing the colors, sounds and sensations all around them to disappear, but also magnify all at the same time. Euroda feels herself trying to fall back into Emrys as his lips part from hers.
“This has gone on long enough,” Gargon states. “I’m ready for a fight.”
Emrys continues looking at Eurodra as if it's only the two of them. Then, he slowly opens up the top buttons of his shirt revealing a diamond in his chest. Eudora lifts her hand to touch it.
"You have a jewel too" she says in awe, wondering why she didn't assume Emrys would have the same abilities as his father.
“Invincible,” Emrys says proudly. “That’s what a diamond means.”
He turns towards Gargon, but Eudora notices it’s not in a fighting position, but in a position of surrender. Gargon’s smile is sinister as he holds out his hand. Eudora doubts, she fears, but she doesn’t once give up the hope in Emrys as he stands in front of her. In one sharp moment, Gargon's red flash of light strikes Emrys’ diamond as lights reflect all around.
Eudora watches Emrys fall just like her parents did that night. His hair turning from it's beautiful golden locks to ginger streaks throughout it. Gargon laughs hysterically and points his light towards Eudora. Eudora looks behind her to see King Tobias is no longer looking at the scene in pain of losing his son. She then turns around and creates vines to hold Gargon in place. Gargon yells and moves around but is unable to break the thorny barrier she made to hold him.
She then runs to Emrys, laying him on his back and only to see his cracked diamond. He was supposed to be invincible. Sobs begin to escape her as Emrys’ eyes lay glazed over with red irises. It happened all over again. She lost the one she loved all in just a matter of moments.
“Emrys, please no, not like this,” she cries.
She holds onto Emrys as deep cries erupt from her soul, screaming of a loss she can't recover from. Though, she stops when she sees a green light illuminating from her chest. Her emerald.
She looks down to see her emerald shining like it never has before. In a moment, it’s as if a gust of wind flows through her giving her a feeling of relief. Then she notices her hair, no longer black with a ginger streak, but now fully white, much like King Tobias’. White light starts to shine all around her, dancing like stars do in the sky. Then a hand raises up to her hair. Emrys.
Her eyes soften and she quickly grabs onto his hand. His diamond is not refracting the light, instead it is the source. His diamond, is bringing light to her emerald. His eyes fold into their regular blue and look up to her as his hair retreats from a mismatched color to a pure white like hers. And his diamond, instead of the cracks forming together, a golden light melts holding it together. The diamond is made new, but the sacrifice is still evident with golden cracks throughout his diamond.
“You’re free Eudora. Amartía no longer has a hold on you,” he smiles, breathly softly.
She smiles brightly, “Thank you Emrys, for saving me again.”
“It was an honor."
Eudora holds Emrys up and holds his face softly. Emrys’ hand lays over hers as she leans in and promptly lays her lips onto his. She stops to look into Emrys eyes as a huge smile forms on her face.
King Tobias waves his hand to release Gargon. Eudora notices Gargon’s skin seems older, his eyes seem tired, and his garnet seems to be smaller. Although he was not vanquished, he was defeated.
“This is not the end,” King Tobias states. “There will be a time where I will finish you and your destruction will be no more. My son has conquered you, and he will conquer you again”
Gargon shakes his head and runs off scared while Emrys, Eurdora and King Tobias laugh. King Tobias helps the two of them stand and hugs his son tightly. He then turns to Eudora with sweet eyes and says, “Eudora, I love you dearly,” and gives her a soft and gentle hug. “I’m glad you’re a part of this family.”
✧✧✧
A year later, Eudora sits on her same windowsill, though now in a white gown with green emeralds and peonies embroidered down throughout the bodice. A veil lays over her pure white hair as she looks out into the meadow below.
“Eudora?” Emrys says walking up the hallway.
“In here,” Eudora beams.
Emrys walks in to see his newly married wife, Eudora, as she stands to meet him at the doorway. He leans down and she gives him a simple and soft kiss.
“I can’t wait to live the rest of my life with you,” Eudora beams.
“I as well,” Emrys states. “My commitment to you will be steadfast through the ages.” Emrys raises his hand to her hair, pure as snow and smiles. “You’re so beautiful, Eudora. So pure and radiant. Thank you for choosing me, that’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
“You flatter me too much,” Eudora says. “Thank you for choosing me, it’s all I’ve ever needed.”
The two smile as they sit in the windowsill staring out into the beautiful meadow. Eudora waves her hand and blooms peonies and beautiful white roses. Emrys flicks his hand to shine light on her flowers. They both smile at each other. Eudora lays her head on his shoulder while both of their jewels illuminate the love they hold for each other.
Eudora never believed in miracles, until she met Emrys. Through him, she is now free, and now, his presence is a miracle all on its own. And Eudora wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
The End
