I started the Phoenix Literary Arts magazine as a Junior Designer set to learn how they do things. Since I was a freshman still learning, I was more of a assistant. Which was great because I was learning from them as well as applying the skills I learned in my Graphic Design Classes. The first project I was involved in was making a poster for our fundraiser. However, the event eventually had to be cancelled, so we changed the original poster for our Fall Showcase. I was also able to be on the team that painted a banner for the Art and Architecture building! Although I wasn't able to be that involved this year, I am hoping for more opportunities in the future.
This was my original design when I was still learning. Colors aren't great, I outlined the words which is a big NO NO, and it was just crowded.
This was the version after getting some help from the Senior Designer. Colors are much nicer as well as the typeface and negative space.
This was the edited version for the Fall Showcase.
This was the banner we made for the Art and Architecture Building. This was super fun to make! I got to bond with some of the other Junior Phoenix Staff as well as make a pretty awesome banner all in around three hours!
