Special Projects

Over the years I have been able to lead and participate in a variety of special projects that support student learning. I believe the best projects include immersive experiences for students and educators, leading to authentic learning experiences through the development of empathy as skills increase.

Every 15 Minutes is a national program to help students and adults gain awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. Throughout the 14-15 school year I worked with a small team of outstanding students to develop a program for South, tapping into the talent of other South student programs.

TEDx South Anchorage High School, South Speaks, and Anchorage Youth Speaks are all student public speaking events. As a more formal spin-off of the AP Language CRAVE projects, AP Seminar presentations, and other researched and passionate presentations, all three events served as a platform for Anchorage teens to raise their voices and show off what they are passionate about.
