China does dominate the region, (and the world for that matter), when it comes to Ukulele manufacture but there are an increasing number of workshops and factories opening up elsewhere in Asia, and still a few in business from the time before China became pre-eminent. Getting information on them can be hard as the websites are often difficult to translate Ggum

Says they are handmade in Korea on the soundhole label, (apart from some that have made in China in the soundhole labels). I have seen a Sopranino, Sopranos, Supersopranos and Concerts, (and the suggestion of Tenors?). I have also seen one on sale in the US. Again I am short of information about the firm that makes them? Not entirely sure where to put this entry as they say they were founded in the UK in 2002 and they like to highlight this in their advertising, it appears though that in 2008 they moved to Canada. Whatever the case for the head office, all of the instruments are made in South Korea. In 2011 a range of concert Ukuleles was introduced though I have never seen them on sale outside of Korea, hence putting them here. (The Guitars are distributed in North America, however) Koni Koni

This is, (or was, I believe they are no longer in production now?), the name used by ESP, a big Japanese electric Guitar manufacturer to brand a range of Ukuleles that they only sold in Japan. ESP also own Big Boss, a major chain of Guitar shops, through which the Ukuleles were sold and I have seen it said were the makers. Click for more
