Joe Egan is based in Ladysmith, British Columbia and he is mainly a Guitar maker doing eclectic, archtop and flat top acoustic models, but does make all sorts of other Chordophones as well including Tenor Guitars, Mandolins and Ukuleles. He also does things like harp arm additions and fan frets as as option on all of his chordophones, again including Ukuleles. He originally studied luthiery in the U.S. and now teaches luthiery on top of his workshop output.
(Via translation software), I believe he made his first Guitar in High School and after working as a photographer he started making musical instruments again in the early 1990's using the brand name Songbird. He makes Guitars and Mandolins as well as Ukuleles but at time has gone on his output has increasingly focused on Ukuleles and he makes solid steel strung electric and cigar box ukuleles as well as acoustic ones. He does some unusual body shapes for his Ukuleles and was apparently commissioned by Nintendo to make them a Pikachu shaped Ukulele in 2002.
Located on the big island of Hawaii, Mark Evans has made Ukuleles, Tiple Ukuleles, Lili'u s, Guitars, and surfboards under the Branding MAE, but he started with making houses.
