Paul Arrington is based in Kalaheo on the Big Island he is a member of the Big Island Luthiers Guild and uses the branding Pololu. He teaches luthiery as well as making all the standard sizes of Ukulele plus Superconcerts and Jumbo Tenors of his own.Ā Originally a surgeon he is now retired and learned to make Ukuleles from Sam Rosen. He has been doing so now since 2010, (when it was safe? if he lost a finger...!)
The name Pololu, in Hawaiian means a heavy spear.
From Oahu, he has been making 20 or so quality Ukuleles a year since before 2004. He uses the brand name Lymana and makes Soprano, Concert and Tenor, in Koa, Mango or Mahogany to 3 standards plus a Bill Tapia Special, (He actually made the ukuleles that Bill Tapia played), that only comes as a Tenor. He will also do custom work, including Baritones but his standard designs are very traditional with bridge pins and a Zero fret.
