Careers learning is cross curricular with all departments offering Careers related learning opportunities. Support will be provided for Year 10 pupils choosing their next steps through Careers Provision within Personal Development lessons, dedicated weekly Careers lessons, links with external agencies and at least two Careers meetings. Meetings will be supported by school staff and the Careers Advisor. Parents and Carers will be invited to join the second of the two meetings and Mr Parkin and the Careers advisor will be on hand to support families preparing to inform the Local Authority of their post 16 intended destinations. Mr Parkin, the Careers Advisor and representatives from East Kent College Broadstairs and Canterbury will be available at the Year 10 parents evening for additional support.
In preparation for Post 16 transition and alongside classroom-based work, we hold multiple individual careers meetings with our young people and a Careers Advisor from The Education, Business Partnership to provide impartial careers advice and guidance. We will be holding a further careers meeting in Term 3 where parents will be invited to attend to discuss this in further depth in preparation for making choices in April/May. The 14+ Transition Liaison will be in touch to invite you to this meeting at a time convenient to you.
Please also note that the aforementioned careers advisor will be present at Year 10 parents evening along with representatives from local colleges should you wish to discuss post 16 transitions and options.
During Term 3 we will be holding an open evening for our Post 16 provision. The 14+ Transition Liaison will be in touch to invite you to book.
For more information on our Post 16 Provision please visit our website:

In the second half of Year 10 we will begin organising Year 11 Work Experience placements, for more details please visit the Work Experience section of the website.
We would recommend considering/visiting a variety of post-16 Further Education/Training Providers to get an idea of what type of provision is going to be best for your young person and to investigate courses and support. A list of local alternative providers can be found in the Future Pathways section of the website.
The majority of College/Sixth Form/Training Providers offer Open Days but also welcome direct requests for information or visits.
